Free & Low-Cost Substance Use Services

The Salvation Army - Adult Rehabilitation Centers

It's surprising to most people that one of the largest providers of substance use services in the world is The Salvation Army. They conduct Adult Rehabilitation Centers in many of the larger cities in the United States and even around the world. These centers battle addiction, develop work and social skills and help individuals to recover they’re health and stability. The Salvation Army provides an average stay of 6 months, wholly free of charge. You do not have to be Christian to benefit from their services. For more information, visit their website. You can also find information on the same site for their programs for women "Harbor Lights".

County Funded Programs & Services

Many counties in California are connected to some type of low-cost or free substance use services. There are too many to list here and they do change, sometimes from year to year. I advise you to Google your County name and Alcohol and Drug Services to find local resources. Example: "Santa Clara County Alcohol and Drug Services."

Open Path Collective

From their website: "Open Path Psychotherapy Collective is a non-profit nationwide network of mental health professionals dedicated to providing in-office mental health care—at a steeply reduced rate—to individuals, couples, children, and families in need. Open Path Psychotherapy Collective have agreed to provide in-office treatment for $30 to $50 a session (between $30 and $80 for couples and families). Open Path clients pay a one-time membership fee to work with an Open Path therapist at a significantly reduced rate. Because the rate is so low, clients gain back their membership fee after just one session. Open Path is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Many of our therapists also provide sessions online. Begin your search today."
